3 Letter Agencies.
All sorts of former 3 letter agency operatives have appeared in the upper echelon of UBO's management team. It's not unusual for ex-company men to go work in companies owned or operated by 3 letter agencies. E-systems and Wackenhut are good examples of such safe houses. Was UBO infiltrated in hopes of monitoring the urban intellgenica's movements, interactions and spending habits online in case UBO was a wild success? Code name: COINTELAMATEUR

Hon. William H. Webster

William Webster sits on the board of U.S. Technologies. He is a former director of the FBI and the CIA. Enter USXX, a public company listed on the OTC. They acquired the initial investor of UBO, E2Enet, a small b2b/b2c investment company. E2Enet invested $3 million dollars into UBO, which at that time was defined as George Jackson, Frank Cooper and Adam Kidron. USXX original business was outsourcing contracts from prisons. They divested to get into the Internet incubator business. It hasn't helped their stock, which has traded under a dollar for months.

Marya Stark

Ms. Stark, a former CIA researcher, who did risk assessment for other countries by analyzing demographic and statistical data. Her official title is Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning and Research. This position gives her access to all the database information of everyone who registers at UBO's website. She also would have analyzed online e-commerce habits, expect that no one bought anything.

William Goins

Dress to the right and cover down. Mr. Goins is a former Navy Seal who worked at Pseudo in new channel development. He was brought in as SVP operations to run the place with an Iron hand. He inherited Robin Comstock as a charge. The young and nubile Ms. Comstock was bounced up to operations after one of Indieplanet's mass firings. As in her previous position with IP, Ms. Comstock worked under the boss.

Joel Dreyfuss

Joel is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations. Don't they research other countries sexual practices? He was brought in as Editor In Chief. His editorial contribution consisted of him walking around the halls with disdain and bullying Salon.com. He had a fondness for offering insight and advice that did little more then negatively impact the moral of his assistant. He's most recently been seen pitching projects to companies he hopes might survive. Of all Joel's faults his large disturbing head is probably the single biggest reason UBO didn't make it.

In the end, even with all the 3 letter agencies they didn't have the intelligence to keep this ship afloat. Did we name enough names this time Joel?

I may as well tell the truth now that I'm leaving on Friday. Joel Dreyfuss was known for making passes at the company's youngest male employees. These young brothers came in to work and get experience but had this unruly old pervert trying to touch their shoulders and put his face VERY close to theirs while he was talking to them about his good old days at white companies.

UBO was always a piece of shit company from the jump. We couldn't come up with any good ideas so we tried to blame all of our failures on a few people. I called one of my homegirls from the job and she told me who you're trying to insult. This is why we failed. Because we didn't embrace the people who tried to help our company and many of them moved on to other companies and much better things. While they're all moving on, and have better things, we have to sit around and heap calumnies on their name (even after these people already issued a big 'Fuck You' to hataz like you in earlier posts). UBO can't blame this failure on anyone but the people who are in the office and the people who matter in this industry know who ain't shit and whose name will continue to shine and ring bells. So don't hate them, hate yourselves, Ubitch ass niggaz! and look for work already!

LadyJazz, I'm sorry to say it but in your rush to judgment, you and MarFlo just made Lisa look more credible. The fact is that the newspapers did report on UBO having money problems. So did Inside.Com. Many people came to this site to complain about the company. I also know many people who worked for Indieplanet and what they told me fits with what people like Lisa are saying. By the way, when you attacked Lisa like that, Lady Jazz, you only showed your own ignorance. The Merriam-Webster's dictionary does have the word "calumnies."

I think I know who Lisa Warren is. That's not her real name, but she does work at UBO. She's a woman who saw the company try to get her site to go against Likepepper. She slipped up in one of her messages. After letting us know she posted the e-mail from the company, she wrote that anyone who wants to find her has to keep "dreaming." Lisa Warren is Dream Hampton. Her style is like the one in these posts and she's unhappy with UBO. Of course Dream will never admit to it but some of us already know. Dream you should slow down with the insults because you might offend magazines you'll want to work for after UBO closes. You're too good for this and you have a family to think about. So stop with the nasty messages and airing our dirty laundry.

Question:

What is UE gonna do now that UBO is DOA? After all, UBO seemed to provide the most fodder for ugly, vicious threads when featured. Does this mean that the posts on UE will get back to meaningful discussions on the state of the "urban" tech sector?

BTW, how many of you were at Kevin Powell's book party at Joy last night? There was some interesting UBO/UE related convo going on there...hmmm. I heard that UBO isn't really closing down quite yet, that they're doing a you-can-stay-or-you-can-go thing to avoid a mass firing again and that those who decided to stay will still have jobs while they continue to attempt to save the sinking Titanic that is their company. Hence the reason for Arzie's cryptic post that seemed to be stupid a couple of posts back about sticking with the company to prove it was a legit business. Hmmmm...Hmmm...

Urban Culture Cash Shock
Silicon Alley's UBO loses funding,
lay-offs expected
By PHYLLIS FURMAN
Daily News Business Writer

A crucial round of financing has fallen through for ambitious urban culture
Web company Urban Box Office, raising the likelihood that the Silicon Alley
start-up will be forced to make major lay-offs to its staff of 270.
A $20 million cash infusion that was expected from Interfase Capital — an
investor in distressed Internet companies whose principals include former
radio mogul Steve Hicks — has failed to come through, leaving UBO scrambling
to find financing to stay afloat.
David Watkins, senior vice president in charge of marketing for UBO, said the
company won't disclose restructuring plans until tomorrow. "We'll be
announcing if we downsize and move forward," he said. Watkins also claimed
that UBO had a "signed purchase agreement with Interfase. We are considering
legal action," he said.
In a statement sent to the Daily News, Interfase said it provided UBO with $3
million in interim loans in September and was prepared to lead the company's
next round of financing, but UBO failed to fulfill "certain agreed upon
conditions," namely that it link-up with a major partner.
Interfase also said it would be willing to provide more limited interim
financing, but Interfase principal Scott Hyten added, "Unfortunately, we do
not have the resources to support a business that is losing nearly a million
dollars a week."
UBO's plight has become a common refrain in the city's dot-com community, as
a growing number of start-ups burn through their resources and are unable to
win new cash.
Founded by former Motown Records chief George Jackson, who died earlier this
year at age 42, UBO boasts marquee name investors, including prominent media
investment bank Allen & Co., Flatiron Partners and Chase Capital Partners.
Together, they've ponied up $33 million.
And just two months ago, the Chelsea-based company hosted a lavish party on
Ellis Island to celebrate the launch of its flagship Web site, UBO.net.
In addition to seeking $20 million in venture capital from Interfase, UBO was
looking to raise another $15 million from other investors.
According to a source close to UBO, the Web company — which
taps into the country's fascination with urban culture — was separately
scrambling to lock up about $10 million in short-term loans to help with
day-to-day expenses.
But even if the loans come through, UBO will almost certainly be forced to
make major lay-offs to remain afloat, the source said.
In recent days, employees of UBO have been nervously waiting to hear their
fate.
But Watkins said work was continuing at a normal pace, pointing out a visit
to its offices yesterday by Olympic medalist Marion Jones, who was
prominently featured on the site yesterday.
"We just had a 'hip-hop for president' round table," he said.

Damn...what is that smell!? Do you smell that shit???? What IS that? Is that, I think it's, yeah, I think it's Stankonia, Outkast's latest offering to the masses. This album is a classic. An absolute classic.

When many bands, groups and artists look forward to one musical masterpiece classic that they can look to with pride in their old age, Outkast has just released their second. Stankonia is a testament to benefits of saying true to the creative process, though with the wholly original styalized beats, rythmic rhyming patterns, not to mention their personal style, I cannot begin to tell you what that process involves.

To say this is an original type album is an understatement. There is nothing on the mainstream market like it. "B.O.B." as your lead single? Think about the first time you heard the Fugees' "Killing me Softly" for an comparable example of an original concept in an un-original environment. Outkast has thrived on being different from the very beginning and Stankonia is the next step in Outkast's evolutionary walk towards mastermind status.

Tracks 1-27 (yes 27!) are original, slammin', hard, insightful, reflective, experimental, bangin', funny, forward, complex, layered and phat. I am not prone to passing out compliments in what I feel has become a stagnant, incestuous increasingly watered-down genre of music. However, this is the bomb diggity.

Classic - (1)must take the classical musical form in the chosen genre a step forward. (2)must cross barriers and create new fans where there were none before. (3)must allow for expansion of the listener's thinking and understanding of the musical form. (4)must still be bangin' 10 to 20 years from date of release.

Stankonia is a Classic.

Smelling worse as the time passes.

tokachu,
You're 100% right. What the hell did they spend that on? The internet company I used to work for (i won't mention their names to give them any light) was right across the street from UBO and when they went out of business on Oct 11. They were bitching because they spent $500,000 of their own money in the span of eight months. But they wasted money on shit like sponorsing some guy at the Playboy Mansion so they could take pictures with the bunnies while neglecting to spend money to promote the sites. I suppose UBO operated in the same fashion. Offline startups don't burn through the type of money that these internet companies do and they rarely have access to the type of startup money that internet companies get. It's like as soon as people hit the net, all traditional business practices go out the window. People seem so busy flossing and bragging about what they are and what they're doing that they don't give a second thought to the business.

I contacted the "real" lisa warren and she told me she has no idea whos posting under her name here, but to UE's lisa, I feel your pain. When they fired us, they didn't even tell us until an hour before. We came in and the owners of the building are showing our offices to other cats, we couldn't log in to our admin, and when I went to the receptionists to talk to her she said to me, "Isn't today you guys last day?". What??? At least you guys had time to prepare. I felt like whipping their asses and still do. I know how it is to believe in something only to have people with no clue totally fuck it up!!! But things tend to work out (at least it did for me) so you shouldn't even bother with the negative energy. Those who fucked up will get theirs.....

Ever noticed that everytime one these DOT COM's
go bust, everyone blames the burn rate and the
failure to capitalize on marketing initatives in
a space for a demographic no one understands?
If you repeatedly find that dot com's don't have
tangible business models that can function on brick
and mortar platforms the reason may be because you
hardly ever hear about any capable CFO's that can
differentiate between a P&L and a launch party.

Translation: All flash using VC cash without hiring
people that can do math always leaves you ass...out that is.

I sincerly wish you UBOer's the best in your endeavors,
but looking forward remember that if your next employer
is a little too preoccupied with marketing to consumers
like you and you don't get their tactics, chances are the
consumers won't either. Or if your new boss is constantly
ranting about jsp programming and C+++ without understanding
the connectivity roadblocks for potential users so your site
crashes continously and is riddled with coding errors, there
may be more than just a little something wrong.

Everyone wants the glamorous VP of Marketing nonsense, Director
of Technology inadequacy positions, but when the smoke clears
only those that don't limit their thinking to 'urban' dollars
and grasp the bigger picture will thrive in this space. Pick up
a book and brush up on your accounting, learn to read a P&L, learn
that marketing and techonolgy don't mean shit when you continue to
make excuses for your lack of forward progress at the expense of
others.

I guess I am not mad at UBO for some of the same reasons others espouse to be angry. I am mad at them for serving up such a poor representation of my people. We have to do the simple things people and do them right. UBO was a blueprint for bsuiness failure: Floss, lie, shortcut, fornicate centrally, spend, spend more, floss some more, promote, promote badly, walk tall have no central plan.

I have asked before and I will ask again: where was the content? Where are the articles I wrote? They were damn good and yet they sit in a vault somewhere losing relevance everyday. What is that? They could have used those articles for something, they damn sure paid for them (and paid well, has anyone mentioned that UBO paid well?)

Imagine going to WB and seeing the same front screen everyday for a year, and then after they "launch" you see a different variant of the screen and they play the same 4 or 5 episodes of Malcom and Eddie everyday for a month. That wouldn't fly. What made UBO think they could fly with that kind of stuff?

Just a rant supported by boredom.

lied about having a GED and PHD in Urbanomics. UE's

Ms. Warren was pronounced DOA at MLK hospital from her

Her man used to post on here too, calling Selwyn all sorts of shiny suit queens. Then he had to kiss the butts of the people he talked about to get hooked up with another job. He got the gig but I blew up his spot on UE cause I don't like that sort of snakiness.

Sonya (Lisa Warren on UE) get's into the habit of leaving really foul, curse-out, crank messages on people's machines (in her real voice of course). Her professional interactions are much like her posts here - bitter, hateful and kinda scary. Blowing up her spot before shut her up for a minute but, like roaches, She's back.

Quite frankly I'd rather get some inside info. from someone a bit saner and more informed. It's no wonder UBO's going out of business hiring basket cases like Sonya (Lisa Warren on UE).

Too bad about UBO. Though their business model may have been somewhat ill-conceived (to the extent that the had one in the first place) they did create and environment in which creative urban headz could do their thing and entertain IPO dreams, if only momentarily, and that is a good thing. It also seems that many people are attributing the demise of the ill-fated company to a ghetto, record industry business style. In reality, they fell victim to the same wave of mass extinction that consigned POP, Pseudo, DEN, Boo and to infamy and oblivion. I agree that $1 million a week sounds ridiculous, but that has nothing to do with smoking weed in the bathroom or David Watkins' sexual preference or some random office assistant sucking her way to the top. Bottom line: talking all this trash about UBO--while admittingly entertaining--is like faulting the dinosaurs for their failure to see the 5km asteroid that blew them away 65 million years ago.

In the end, if UBO should be found guilty of anything, it is HUBRIS.
That said, when can the faithful expect STANK to launch and what, exactly, is the business model?

What!?

Cory Dillon puts up lousy numbers on the norm because he gets no help from his team. A running back is nothing without the right plays called by the offensive coordinator/coach. More importantly, RBs need the support of an effective offensive line to bust a hole into the defense. So I'm saying, Cory is a good (and at times excellent) player on a piss poor team.

In that light, I see no comparison to one Mr. Shaan James who constantly fucks up the flow of the conversation on this board with his own self promotion and insistance on having the last word.

1. He has the same ole' tired rant damning urban dotcommers for frivelous flossin' and fucking up what ever funding they may have gotten.

-------ok, and... what else is new?

2. He complains that the urban space has still not been properly defined.

------and, the point again is?

3. He claims that even if the urban market does get properly defined it will not be a lucrative market that would merit a business to focus its attention on it.

------tell that to brick and mortars like NIKE, MTV, and SPRITE.

2. an Anti-Technolgy message...

------sorry, you can't get away with that one w/o a response from a teckie geek like me.

3. self promotion of himself and all the other finance folks in the hizzouse.

------ please, stop sweatin yourself.

You never really hear much about the CFOs in this game when sites go bust because without the killeridea, killerapp or killercontent or all the above, there is no company. In which case, all you will have is a killer burn rate and no real money coming in - no need for killer accounting in that. Whether or not you have a capable CFO means dick (and you don't even need to know how to read a P&L) w/o the people who make (da bomb programmers) and sell (slimey marketing folks) your company's product.

Remember this for all y'all who diss the technology side of the house - without the programmers your accountant ass would be calculating your numbers on your fingers, and none of would be online right now.

True, once you have a business you will need someone to count the cheese (or beans if you prefer, perhaps marbles). But the importance you place on that holds no weight without an idea or a product to sell.

Don't get me wrong, I am in no way defending the flossin or the bone headed business moves of the folks that we love to hate on this site. I just don't like how your note points blame at the little people at UBO. They were just people like everyone else, trying to do their jobs.

Some of them had to be good. Some had to be in over their heads. Most were just casualties in this situation the blame should be square on the management and not the 200 sum odd folks that got canned today.

Your suggestion that picking up an accounting book would somehow better their situation and your assumption that the masses at UBO are mathematically challenged point to your own ignorance and your oh so false sense that you are all that and a bag of stank chips.

Max - I thought you were down.

Shaan - Everytime you open your mouth (type something on this board) you show just how much of a 'great' guy you are.

unlike dinosaurs, management probably saw this coming a long time ago, maybe even before they launch this firm.

I'm wondering why they had the same number of employee as a multibillion silicon valley firm....

It comes to this..give some people a bunch of money and they don't know what to do...simple as the definition of failure and success

What pisses me off more than anything is when I see legimate

Tekkie - this comment is directly to you and
not meant to offend (believe it or not) anyone else...

You clearly have a reading deficiency if you derived your
mantra for technology from my post. My point which you
clearly missed wasn't suggesting that UBOer's were laxed in
math or ignorant, but rather that most urban media employees
are rejects that didn't make the music industries final four
cut and now they're bringing that same mentality here. All
floss no understanding of cost to operate a business. I didn't
come into this space with a HTML book in my hand or a marketing
prospectus, I came in understanding the potential to get paid
if you applied sound business practices. I'm glad you mentioned
one of my former clients that hired us not because we could give
them bells and whistles with flash animation, or put together
A-list launch parties, but rather we understood their objective was
to grow their business in this space while not being condescending
to their target demographic.

Most (not all) tekkies spend their time boasting about java applets
and coding, but have no understanding on how to make that technology
marketable for clients, never mind the users these urban firms hope
to attract. These same firms have repeatedly bought into all this flash
animation which crashes most peoples browsers, doesn't load properly and
is a pain in the ass to update by tekkies like you that are so on their
own 'I got a Flash and Java Script Bible' nuts they can't see the forrest
from the trees. If you revisit and read the thread and your close out
that damn webmonkey you'll realize that your eyes have written a check that
your techno babble ass can't cash. Stop making excuses for being mathematically
challenged and assuming that speaking techno-mumble jumbo will always get you
a gig. True players in this medium can spot that shit a mile away.

The greatest thing about me is that I stick to my guns and don't tow the party
line Mr. Status Quo. Fuck you very much.

from the ny times..

Urban Box Office Network, one of the largest Internet companies specializing in hip-hop and Latino entertainment, appears headed for the expanding dot-com graveyard.

The company plans to lay off between 70 percent and all of its 300 employees by tomorrow, said Adam Kidron, the chief executive of the network. He said an anticipated investment from a Texas venture capital company had fallen through.

"We might be out of business by Friday," Mr. Kidron said.

The venture capital company, Interfase Capital of Austin, said it was willing to provide interim financing but could not support a business that was losing nearly $1 million a week. Mr. Kidron did not deny the company's "burn rate" was that high but said it was immaterial to the financing agreement. Mr. Kidron said a total of $34 million had been invested in the company so far.

Aside from the loss of jobs, the collapse of Urban Box Office would be a setback for economic development efforts in Harlem. The company had put together a separate package of public and private financing for a $12 million renovation of a building at Amsterdam Avenue and 126th Street and was planning to move there next year from its offices at 31st Street and Seventh Avenue.

Mr. Kidron said the company had counted on a total of $35 million to $50 million from Interfase and other investors. He accused Interfase of reneging on its commitment to provide $20 million of the total.

Interfase officials, however, said they withdrew their financing offer in part because Urban Box Office had failed to meet a requirement that it establish strategic partnerships with other, larger companies. Urban Box Office officials said they had forged a couple of alliances with such companies but were not able to identify them publicly at this point.

In some ways, Urban Box Office has been fighting an uphill battle since February.

Mr. Kidron came up with the idea for a Web portal linking several sites for urban music, entertainment and information. But during its first year of development, the company was more closely associated with George Jackson, the former Hollywood producer and record company executive who helped found the company with Mr. Kidron, a longtime British music industry producer, and Frank Cooper, former vice president for business affairs at Def Jam Recordings.

But on Feb. 10, just as the company was about to start its first major Web site, Mr. Jackson, 42, died of a stroke.

In recent months, Mr. Kidron said, Urban Box Office had come into its own. The number of visits to its Web sites had quadrupled since July, and the company was about to sign an advertising agreement with Pepsi- Cola. But 25 employees were laid off after IndiePlanet.com, one of the Web sites, failed to catch on, he said.

People drawn to so-called urban entertainment have plenty to choose from on the Internet, including such sites as Hookt.com, Volume.com, Bet.com and 360hiphop.com. But Urban Box Office Network planned a wide array of original content, including situation comedies, dramatic series, talk shows and animation.

Ed Dunn,

I respectfully disagree. I don't think UBO Executives ever predicted such a early exit from the game. If they did, they were expecting to cash out from an acquisition or an IPO, not pack their shit and start looking for a new job. Why would they throw a million dollar launch party only to shut down in a matter of weeks? Again, I think they may have been overly optimistic about their prospects for continued funding, but then again, so is almost every content play out there and the vast majority of the portals--urban or not. I stand by my contention that they were blind-sided, though their vision like may have been blurry. Was in the indo smoke or was it the promise of greatness?

Your comments about business sense (or lack there of) are true, but picking on the underlings at UBO (read any web company) is not cool. They are the victims in this game. If you wanna fry someone look at the management. But -- oh wait... none of those kats are teckies anyway.

Instead ask why didn't they use that million dollars for attracting real talent neccessary for a startup? Real talent is expensive but they need the independence and flexibility something I don't think management wanted out of their workers (from the posts on this board)

IPO a content site in this bear market? - even they knew that was a remote chance of happening...

Only the employees was 20%blindsided (they should've smelled the BS when they interviewed there) ...Believe me Deacon, management usually know their cash flow at least 4 quarters in advance, especially if they have investors putting millions in the firm...

What I hear is that when Kidron knew the investment wasn't going to come throughh, he didn't tell his management team. Instead, when the company was addressed was the first that people heard of it. In any event, I know that it's great to have a sounding board and to voice opinions and thoughts. But damn, we are really slaying each other. It's really unfortunate that this company didn't have a good business model or a plan for the future. There were about 4 or 5 good sites that could have brought in revenue. In any event, I think that we are spending far too much time downing others. It's sickening. We shouldn't be making light of "urban" or predominantly "black" companies that fail. It's a shame. What is so funny is that instead of sitting on these messages boards and assasinating people we could be putting our collective minds together and be doing a ton of other things. Like creating companies that have staying power. We could literally rule the world. Anyway, ya'll not trying to hear what I am saying -- instead you would prefer to continue these soap-opera like postings. "Flash is used by Mac buppies not the true tech people"

But I do agree with this statement:

"If you talk tech people then you talking the C++,Oracle,Cisco people."

You're comparing apples with oranges. There is a difference between designers and tech people whatever their preferred computing platform. All of the tech people I've worked with may have been brilliant programmers but couldn't draw a straight line or create a visually appealing site. Now, i'm not saying that it's all about the visuals but there has to be a balance between the two unless it's a killer ap like Napster where the "play" is the thing. But in most other cases you need both. The designer needs to make the site easy to navigate, visually appealing, and download quick (although this seems to be a forgotten rule) while the tech heads need to focus on the coding of things that will help personalize the experince for the user like remembering their names when they return to a site, etc. Don't get the two twisted!!!

According to sources, the company could possibly even be releasing an even greater percentage of the 270 staffers in order to remain afloat. The site, launched two months ago, is a network of urban Internet destinations including Save Online Hip-Hop (SOHH), LatinFlava and IndiePlanet, and Rev Run (Run DMC). A $20 million cash investment was expected from Interfase Capital, whose principals include former radio mogul Steve Hicks, but it didn't come through. Founded by former Motown Records chief, the late George Jackson, music producer/agent Adam Kidron and industry exec Frank Cooper, UBO was in talks with Miller Publishing mid-September to purchase Vibe and Spin magazines for $100 million. ... what happen to the move to HARLEM USA???? shaan -

you are way off when you try to diss teckie geek. don't be mad just cause he is the ony one crazy enough up in here to challenge your line of thought.

tis true that you seem to diss all teckee peoples and especially the poor soldiers that were fighting the war at ubo. his point is to direct your energy and criticism to the generals who failed them. the soldier were 'just following orders' and doing their damn jobs.

tis true that you seem to put a little extra importance on your own feild of accounting, there by jocking yourself as t.g. stated.

you also claim that teckie geek puts a bunch of technobabble in his posts, but you are the one that rounds up the usual suspects of names and drops them into your notes. C++, Oracle, etc. yet other than the names, what do you really know -- 'sept how to add it all up?

i have gotten some sound technical advice from teckie geek in the past via email from hooking up with that brother off of this site.

that brother is as his name claims truly a teckie geek. he knows all about complex web technology and system security. from the conversations i have had from him in the past - i know for a fact that he is a journeyman level programmer in Java and many of the industry standard object oriented languages. he knows the backend database shit - sql, db2, sybase, oracle, mssql, mq, bowstreet, websphere, apache, jaguar. he is an expert at nt, and various flavors of unix, he also knows network and firewall security and systems management.

technically he is no joke. and no he does not work for a dotcom he is a senior systems consultant at a big time finance and insurance company, making six figures, probably currently laughing at you.

now i know i too will feel the wrath of your silver tongue, but like the geekster i could care less.

you see only people who are full of themselves get their panties in a bunch like you when someone disagrees with them on ue. stop crying, agree to disagree, and move on.

KoKoBar went up because the owners were two angry dykes who acted hostile to men (They were active man-hating bull-daggers. Why did they hate men so much considering they wanted to be them?)

They acted hostile to women who weren't dykes. If you weren't a lip-stick lesbian, you better not be in there or you would get a half filled cup of mint tea, a day old muffin and charged double for every sheet of paper you printed out.

They acted funny to anyone who wasn't dressed like a yuppie or wasn't white or asian. They were some funny acting stank chicks who would scream at customers about dropping sesame seeds on the floor from their stale muffins.

They also hung around all the time adjusting shit. You get up to go to the bathroom and they would come over and touch your coffee cake with their elitest hands that probably just came out of one of their inputs. They would look over your shoulder while you were printing out your personal documents and make comments about your

Haha.. That's why Traci Chapman licked you, left you and took back the equipment.

It's funny because Afro Spice just described some of the people I saw UBO hire. Sheryl Huggins, Dream Hampton, David Watkins, Jessica Green, Tamara Spinner, Michelle, Emma Tyrese, Cherisse Colon, and many others. I don't understand the black Lesbian. She wants to be treated like a man but disrespects men. She makes a living by using the race card on white people but insults black men. Another group that ruined my company IP's chances was Latinflava. These Puerto Rican suckers were not like others I met at our launch parties. These were some flossy wannabe baller shotcaller suckers who forced
Adam to give them all the money my site plans and Josiah's cartoons pulled in. Latinflava, you people made a lot of enemies and from what I hear some of them are armed now and looking for all of you. Good luck, Latinflava. Now you have to prove you really are the Scarface dealers you always said you were in the hallways.

Earlier, I said Wigglesworth would speak on UBO. Now I will bring it! I am going to attempt to write a post that might make some sense of this shit. Ok, here it goes:

I agree that UBO was fucked up but you must first take a good look at who's really the blame there:

Adam K: Loved us like he loved his rabid pets (pet people hate to take those beloved pets to the pound when they fuck up)

Frank C: Who da fuck was that guy? Seen him once in a town hall meeting.

David W: Very unaware of the hatred of his co-workers. The person who had nineteen bodies working under him but working on what? Of course, the fucking bedazzler? I wish I could have stuck that bedazzled thing up his ass and stapled him a nice new shiny ass hole. So outwardly flaming fruity, he poorly represented UBO and does not know what the fuck he was talking about.

Bill G: Lets not forget Billy boy. Colorful shirt wearing muhfukah. He had his nose in plenty of places it did not belong in and his knack for telling people "I don't know anything about tech…" seemed to sum up his worth to UBO. Good riddance.

Joel D: I thought the old guy was cool but, he just didn't seem to be in control of anything worth speaking on. Well maybe that nice thing he wrote for UBO in Salon. I bet he wished he'd kept his mouth shut.

Cory P: I would have liked to hit this man in the face with a brick. Straight up menace to any logical process that was presented to him.

Now, the assholes I didn't have direct interaction with:

Tyrone: you're a straight fuck up kid. You should have never been the CTO you fuckin suck and I hope, no I pray that all the future employers reading this remember how bad you fucked up. You may know a lot about tech issues but its trapped somewhere under all them dirty ass dreads. Cut that shit off and get a job at the Wiz next door to UBO. I heard they need a new stock boy for the holiday season.

Ecom: What the fuck where you thinking? In real agencies/internet plays they start on holiday initiatives months in advance. None of you know this space and more importantly none of you have a clue about e commerce.

Biz Dev: INEFFECTIVE.

I would like to now talk about the people that I think had it going on in UBO:

Sohh.com: Tight ship, these guys are going to have a future definitely. There was so much love there it was sickening. And even though Felica was an annoying loud mouth I got to give to her, sista girl be makin moves. Big up Steve and staff!

LatinFlava: These guys believed in their platform and protected it as much as they could. They're gonna make it as well.

SoulPurpose:
Even though these guys got a shitty redesign and a botched content publishing system (fuck you very much IXL, Tyrone, Cory) they tried and tried to keep bringing it to their list of "tastemakers" snicker, snicker…. James A is a jerk who protects himself most of the time, but all in all I think he really wants to help people (after he gets his;-). Big ups to Ray, Tim, Liane, Keesha, Scott for working under those shitty conditions for so long. The crusade will go on.

Indieplanet:
Was tryin. big up to Darryl, son was cool.

Othervision:
I thought their shit was cool but they stayed to themselves mostly.

Creative:
Guy S looked psychotic but I think he did a great job as creative Director. It's sad that people won't get to see all the great design's for likepepper and urbanwire. Big ups to Peju and Salina and the rest of the crew!

Big ups to Sean O, Gesha, Chris V, Tim:
These people went above and beyond the call of duty to make broke technology and lack of technology work on their respective platforms/positions.

Cookie:
Last but not least Cookie. Cookie tried to help everybody. She really cared. I think she cared too much.

Don't get me wrong as much as UBO was wack, there was a lot of good there. As much as shit was hard and impossible to endure, I will miss it. I came there because the lure of what George Jackson tried to accomplish as a pioneer for an urban internet play. Had it worked, it would have been the crowning achievement for us as people of color in this space. This failure vindicates our oppressor's thoughts and solidifies their view of our worth as worthless people. Whether you like it or not, UBO will impact those of you who did not even work there. You might not get that project that you wanted because your boss thinks you're incapable of finishing it. You might not get that position because your boss views all people of color in the Internet space as urban jigaboo fuck ups. For all of you on here grimacing and frolicking about talking about UBO losers and UBO fuck ups I pity you for your lack of sensitivity. Some good people lost today. That's a lost for us all.

Its UBOver!!! UE will also go down the toilet, as we will not have that bright shiny thing (UBO) to spit on anymore!! So now we can all be UBO losers. And that's the bottom line!!

D. Wigglesworth

PS: Anyone know where the pink slip party is gonna be tommorow?

PSS: Can I get a free Bedazzler as a parting gift?

Btw, D Wigglesworth will be ok;-)

Peace.

Shaan - I have to take TeckieGeek and Anon's side on this one. You may not mean to sound anti-technology, but you do. You may not mean to sound like you are not jocking yourself, but you are. I guess I just volunteered for a verbal thrashing from you, but like TeckieGeek and AnonYMous - I don't care.

Without the TeckieGeeks and TecknoDweebs of the world - there is no internet, no bulletin boards, no online platform from which you could continue to get so much attention.

PS. Anon - Why are you jocking TeckieGeek so much? If he wanted you to put all his info out like that he would have done it himself. He obviously wants to remain AnonYmous like you, but the clues you gave could (if they are true) rat him out. Respect a brothers privacy.

Whoa. I guess I am not alone. Diss me if you wan't Shaan - cuz it doesn't matter. Uhm... Anon - I'd like some privacy please besides I don't work at the place I used to when we last chatted over the wire. Remember this, you still don't really know who I am. Dweeb - Good lookin out.

Shaan - Good looking out if you are really trying to hook people up with jobs. Some how, based on your previous self promoting posts, I suspect that your offer is nothing more than a George W. Bush-like campaign promise, -- "I'm going to restore honor and integrety to the UE board by offering people jobs and not just my snide remarks". On that, my brother, I hope that you prove me wrong.

I hope you have a wonderful and productive day.

Why is everyone so worried about UE not having any more sites to talk trash about??? Urban is more than just the web people! There are those magazines and record labels, there are "urban celebreties" that all need exposing.

Allthough many of you allready seem to be "in the know" I think it's about time sombody really blew The Source wide open.
As the "bible" of hip-hop to the kids ( read 12-19 year olds ) that most of these urban sites were trying to market to I think it's high time to show everybody the gory details of what those boneheads are really about.

Just a suggestion.

Keter, we see eye to eye more than you might think! I've been waiting for somebody to blow up the spot on The Source for a long time. It's sad how far they've fallen, and I'm talking about long before their "Awards" fiasco this year. They really were the magazine of hip-hop music, culture and politics once upon an eon ago..

I"And if ya dont know now ya now..."

The following is an interpolation from the "10 Crack Commandments" by the Notorious B.I.G. keep that beat in your head as you read:

10 DOTCOM COMMANDMENTS

I been in this game for years
It made me a animal
There's rules to this shit, I wrote me a manual
A step by step booklet, for you to get
Your game on track, not your dot com pushed back

Rule number one, always play this game for fun
Watching the Matrix while programmin cold fusion dont make you The One
Cashing a big check don’t mean that you catchin wreck
Listen to what the Wu said and just protect ya neck

Number 2, never let 'em know your next move
Don't you know bad boys move in silence with silence
Take it from your highness, uh huh
I performed mad Jedi mindtricks on these "urban" cats, for they ram and chips

Number 3, never trust nobody
Your CEO set that ass up, properly gassed up
Hoodied and masked up, for that fast buck
he be layin in the conference room to light that ass up
Friends and co-workers have things they afraid face to face to say,
Uploaded next day on Urban Expose

Number four, know you heard this before
Dont believe the hype, of your own MS Word type

Number five, always know the terms of the deal
A signed piece of paper aint worth $20 mil, trying to keep it real
Nino Brown ran the Carter so Phuck that ex-Navy seal
Urban is defined as pertaining to the characteristic of the city
Trying to control it and not know it ,makes it a pity
Level playing field , come with what whatever you got
You cant define us with them 3 W's or that muthaphucking dot

Number six, never ever fall for tricks
I know plenty websites with the same free javascripts,
SVP’s/Web Producers all cocky and bold, never taught but always told
need to back their shit up with the basic knowledge of HTML code

Seven, this rule is so underated
Keep your fly women and business completely separated
Money and sex don't fit , like two male serial cables, and no interconnect bitch
Find yourself in serious shit

Number eight, never keep no ones New Jack dream alive for except for you
Them british cats that wish they were blak can hold nightmares true
Its a "Thin Line Between Love and Hate" to wait
4 days to announce the companys bankruptcy fate

Number nine should've been number one to me
If you ain't with due diligence, stay the fuck from VC's
If niggas think you slippin, they ain't tryna listen
youll be settin up for hiring
They Waitin to start firing

Number ten, a term called “set new trends”
Strictly for live sites, not for wacksites
If you ain't got the next shit vision, say hell no
Cause investors gonna' want they money , rain, sleet, hail, snow

Follow these rules, you'll have mad bread to break up
If not,no IPO on the wake-up
Empty box office, watch your frames shake up
Brown Eyed Intelligence with code and rap
Back my mindspray up on Operation: FILETAP
Was down with UBO from the start until it fell,
But im ok cause I can still think and link my thoughts up in html

Gotta go, gotta go, more files to hack up
Peace
