Venus Wins Wimbledon; Adam Kidron and UBO Loses Hits A Ton.
|
 |
Double Fault! UBO at some point had the ability to develop a website for Venus and Serena Williams. They didn't do it. A missed opportunity for lots of traffic and high volume merchandise sales. Serena won the U.S. Open earlier this year and Venus took Wimbledon this weekend. All those adoring fans, tennis junkies, and salivating lesbians were all looking for a website for the Williams sisters. There was none to be found.
They took the women's Doubles Tournament this morning too. Oh well. The Williams sisters will win again. UBO has a whole year to get it right this time. We estimate $200,000 in missed revenue from not selling t-shirts and tennis rackets.
This site is part of UBO's overarching sports strategy, which includes sites such as UBOSPORTS, SPORTSLIFEMAG & PUREGAME. They all feature crowded design, pop-up windows, branded e-mail, I-chat and all the other UBO-eqsue goodies you come to know and ignore. They plan on covering the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, NASCAR, Golf, Tennis, World Soccer, MLS, Arena and more. We hear they have plans to cover cricket , bowling and badminton.
The idea to launch this jumbled-sports mini-network is probably based on the success of The Source Sports, they plan to beat the The Source online (Whose own meager offerings and deals will be examined shortly) to compete with veteran sports reporting sites like The Sporting News, ESPN.COM, CNN/SI and CBS Sportsline.
UBO plans to tentatively relaunch this month, probably with a star-studded party thrown UBO's Marketing Vice-Prexy, David Watkins. David, a former party promoter will be using his skills at ordering ice sculptures and making golden VCR tape party invites to market UBO on the web. Evidently, you can get a lot of hits on a website from having an open bar.

UBO must not have ANY,even REMOTELY business minded people up there.... |
AHHHHHHHH! HA! HA! HA!, That's not UBO's site! What I think is funny is that that site was down all this weekend because they got so many hits. That's freaking hilarious! The people who paid these girls money to get them on the network drops the ball on the biggest tennis weekend of the year!
Damn!, who's running things over there? And what the hell are they doing? |
the webmaster, of williamssisters, who is going by the name "jahmal" actually has some type of relationship with UBO because he has "ubo.net" email account........ |
williamssister.com is not even the sisters' official site..... |

ESPN magazine ($6 billion Tiger on the cover) has an extensive story on Alexandra Stevenson (Dr. J's illegitimate tennis playing daughter)
It's a one-sided whitewash that makes the mother look like a saint and not the groupie reporter who got pregnant to persuade Dr. J to divorce his wife and has taken in 'undisclosed amounts' of child-support payments from Dr. J who they bad-mouth in public.
The interesting piece about the article is that it highlights the close relationship between Alexandar and the Williams sisters growing up. Evidence of racism, the use of the N-word on the tennis circuit, bullying and jealousy from other players and their parents feature in the article.
So let's all give props to the Williams sisters for over-coming all these obstacles to sucseed. Their parents have been dogged by the media for pushing their kids to play tennis, yet no one mentions that 95% of tennis players, skaters and gymnasts (white sports) all start playing at around 3 years old.
It it's true that UBO missed an opportunity, they are not alone. Nike fired Alexandra Stevenson and then re-hired her as soon as they found out she was Dr. J's daughter. |
TO UrbanExpose
"Salivating lesbians", dont front like the fellas arent salivating over these two sisters. They are the finest things going in tennis right now and they are both legal!

The missed opportunity not only reflects on UBO's shortsidedness, but is also a reflection on the lack of support these two women have faced throughout their careers
My hope is that this will change so that more children can become interested in the sport

What makes the Williams family more interesting is the focus that Richard Williams place on education. The top players generally drop out of high school. Agassi, Sampras, Hingis, never saw the inside of a college class. They didn't even go to high school.
Richard Williams severely restricted the number of tournaments that his daughters could play in. He didn't allow them to join the junior curcuit. Venus and Serena have less match experience than any other players currently in the top 10. |

Congrats to the Wiliams Sisters once again....
I remember UBO was planning on doing sites for Venus & Serena, and wondered what happened?...was a damn good idea.
Too bad the powers at UBO missed and goofed up another opp to live up to the initial hype they generated...
Im sure there are a few individuals there at UBO, who actually have been down with UBO since the early stages- and want to see BIG things happen....well, I hope they step up to the frontlines, cause these new heads dont seem to be too bright in making good decsisions....*sigh* |
Well once again this old broad is saddened to see smart, young people of color wasting an opportunity. So-called Urban Sites should be tracking the Williams' Girls 100% instead of trying to get an invite to Puffys Hamptons Hoedown. This is the real story, no black women have won wimbledon since 1958. Most of you were not even a concept in mommie or daddy's eye.
Get out of the materialistic and into the substantive. These sisters have accomplished much against a field who have front people like Chris Evert who I swear is a closet member of the Klan's women's division. Venus and Serena are called arrogant, stuck up and snobby. Code word for blacks not staying in their place.
Let's honour our successes for a change, and not try to tear each other down over materialistic things. |
Everyone at UBO sucks dick and smells like shit. Fuck that wannabe site. Why waste space writing about these LOSERS? |
Thought I forgot didn't you |
I agree with hamlet. UBO does suck. Those clowns should be ashamed of themselves. They had all this money but as soon as George Jackson died they turned into the laughing stock of the industry. |
Hey UBO, three words:
"gum my nuts"
|
Salivating lesbians are a crucial component of the urban ecology, princess. You dis the best, you're probably sleepy like the rest. Feel me, chachee? |
Regardless of what wtf says, the Williams sisters don't suck. They are the most consistent players (unfortunately, with the exception to Hingis) on the tour. Their confidence is mistaken for arrogance. Nevertheless, the deserve to be as arrogant as anyone else on the tour.
I am tired of people accusing them of only being incredible athletes. They have been branded like all of the other black professional players who do well in sports-they are great athletes. Inteligence has absolutely nothing to do with it. It wasn't a smart play but an "athletic" one. They are stronger not smarter.
Braun takes you but so far in life. Props are due to the Williams for overcoming the white media's intelectual limitations. I hope they keep representing for themselves - Fuck whatever anyone has to sa, black or white.
|
i didn't make that earlier post. i don't get down like that; once again, i've been impersonated. actually, LikePepper.com (under the UBO umbrella) is about to light shit on fire, quietly. |
Hamlet:
where for art thou balls and brains?
Why r u hattin of folks over at UBO--what do u have going on for youself? Nadda mucho |
My neice in Kenya emailed this to my sister who emailed it to me today, and seeing those Williams sisters, I thought I'd post it here.

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN:
Can recognize when she is being shamelessly patronized |
I’m diggin the sisters. They are hot. There is nothing like athletic women. The sisters get my vote. They are smashing well over 100 mile serves. The other tennis players are mad because they can't handle truth. They are super athletes that inspire fear like Mike Tyson did in the eighties. All they have to do is keep playing, take another gold bowl and laugh in haters faces.
Speaking of Playah hatahs, why is everybody doggin' UBO? Yeah they did get hyped disproportionately but damn. Its like writers here have vested interest in UBO. Some seem to be taking it personal.
I can sympathize with the company.
It is extremely difficult attempting to achieve what UBO hopes to achieve. The Internet changes so much so fast, it’s hard to maintain a grasp on it. I like the project simply for its ambition. They came hard but they didn't have the foundation to maintain the concept.
Maintaining web group of that size is murder. Even maintaining a small site is difficult. We need something like what they had planned. Everyone online a talks about wanting to do web sites but nobody is doing it. The ones that are doing it should keep doing it. We get better as we learn more. If we don't do it now, we could miss the boat.
Who else is doing better?
